Experimental Static Site Generator

Date Posted: 09-27-2026

It's been a while, this is a long overdue update. I dabbled in creating a static site generator for study-notes, alongside slightly organizing its css file. This very post is actually written in markdown, and is converted into an html version.

Now, my static site generator is not necessarily perfect, I expect some things to bug out in the website when this is published, but it works, it's neat. It's also not done by LLMs, I've mostly done the logic last year.

To be completely transparent though, there was feature that was especially frustrating for me, that I had to use an LLM to quickly find a suggestion. It was for recursively parsing 'containers' in an md file. I believe now that I was overengineering things, but interpreting div containers in markdown files is quite something. The suggested solution involved stacks, reminding me that I still have a ways to go in developing my skills.

There's still a long way to go in fully developing my static site generator, especially when it comes to interpreting 'styles' or 'classes'. But it's a fun thing to develop from time to time. It makes me wonder how frontend web frameworks are actually made, such as Vue or React.
